Once you've seen a busted cast aluminum bracket, you'll know why you'll want to upgrade to this all steel engine bracket. With the torsional forces involved in off-roading today, why risk a sagging engine miles from civilization? Brown Dog Engine Bracket construction features double-welds throughout. Engineered for use with stock-height motor mounts (MMs) or 1" or 2" motor mount lifts (MMLs). Unique lipless bracket design will not interfere with installation of 1" or 2" MMLs.
Since we know first-hand how much fun it is to call dealerships, search online, and scour salvage yards for these difficult to locate brackets, we suggest you install both at once.
We strongly recommend upgrading to Brown Dog high-performance motor mounts or motor mount lifts when converting to these brackets. Stock mounts, designed for street driving, simply don't stand up to the torsional forces experienced offroad. Upgrade the entire engine mounting system for a more secure feeling on your next adventure.
Hardware
The Brown Dog ships all new Grade 8 hardware required to bolt brackets to engine block. All new Grade 8 through-bolts, lock nuts and washers are also included for securing brackets to motor mounts or motor mount lifts.

* Note: If using original Jeep motor mounts, both motor mounts will need to be replaced with a pair of TJ (not YJ) motor mounts or a pair of Brown Dog motor mounts. On YJ, carefully inspect the "cradle" holding the right motor mount for cracks or other signs of wear. (Cradle is squeezed between pylon and motor mount on driver side only.) If this part needs replaced, order Brown Dog part number CR2569. TJ 2.5/2.4 do not have this cradle.
